First of all, I would like you to take into consideration a wide range of options and possible choices after high school. Maybe you are going to choose the same path you were already envisioning, but it would be good for you to ponder things a little longer.
Second, I would like you to be a neurologist as I know you long for the mysteries of the human mind. You' ll probably find out that it's beautiful to learn that you can't be a savior (maybe yours, but certainly not someone else's), but you can help others anyway and find a meaning in what you do everyday and realize that there's something in our own body that tries to help us cope with (almost) any kind of deficiency or lack.
Third: I therefore strongly advice you to read "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" by Oliver Sacks while you're still in school.
