Autumn in London
So I started this new life, moving from Milan to London, from teaching to research (and probably, back to teaching again but now it looks like a long time, especially if you believe - like I do - that the world will end in 2012. Actually, I do believe that we need some kind of intervention from outer space or whatever, so I really hope that aliens and Maya form a sort of coalition and help us all XD). My partner came with me, the dog is left behind (sigh), but I hope not for long. Getting acquainted with the British pronunciation attending extreme listening comprehension exercises following "East Enders" on TV. Getting in touch with the city, observing people more than interacting with them for the moment. Learning pub slang, "mate" for boys, "love" for girls. Loving Victorian houses and Gothic churches (even if I don't ever get into one). Autumn weather far more pleasant than what I'm used to in Milan (so far, so good). West Highland White Terriers everywhere. And I love them. Found also a very good Italian bakery not so far from home so that I don't miss anything. London is very expensive, but it's worth it.
